Wiki is down!

The Second Life games wiki I host is currently down. I’m going to have to repair it some how and I’m not sure how long that will take. I’ll try and get it back up soon. Meanwhile, does Linden Labs want to take it over? Wikis suit Second Life perfectly, and slotting in the games one shouldn’t be too hard and all sorts of clever mapping to launch people straight into Second Life. Hmm, good ideas huh?

Update: The wiki remains down, despite my efforts to update it. I’ll give it another go, but I don’t think I have much chance. If you are good at these sorts of things, please let me know and I’ll give you a shot at fixing it! The records are still there, just the config and setup side of things is broke. If I can’t get it fixed it will simply have to stay down.

  1. My gosh, what downed it? Re: Linden Lab taking over your wiki, that idea piqued my mind. I’m not sure what would be involved but I miss your wiki already. Such a great resource for SL games. I was looking at the games forum recently and thought of you!

To my knowledge, the only wiki to be hosted by LL is the scripting one. I remember something with the SL History Wiki was floated, but that hasn’t worked out.

In any case, just wanted to let you know I read this. 🙂

Yay Torley 🙂 – I’ll see if I can get this damn thing fixed, might take a bit though. Otherwise I’ll try and work out a way for someone somewhere to host or use it!

  3. If you need any help fixing it let me know. Also, if you would like me to take over the project, please let me know. I have my own dedicated server so that wouldn’t be a problem at all. Just email me or contact me through my site! BTW – i always enjoyed your wiki!

    Q. Won't the book get out of date?
    A. No, O'Reilly ebook owners get updates for free for life as the game changes and I edit the manuscript. Others can register their book at O' for $5.

    Q. Does Toady, the designer, approve?
    A. It was Toady who suggested O'Reilly contact me to write the book when they were looking for an author, and he wrote the foreword. He's a big fan!

    Q. Does Toady get a cut of profits? A. I am making donations to Toady each month based on my own royalties. Toady will also benefit from the donations brought by all the new players!
